Nokia 6.1 is the newest mid-range smartphone from the Finnish company :
Nokia 6.1 is the newest smartphone from HMD Global for the US market. The smartphone is an update to last year’s Nokia 6 and was launched for global markets as the Nokia 6 (2018) at the Mobile World Congress 2018 in February.
The Nokia 6.1 retains the same design and look of last year’s model but gets major improvements under the hood. It is also of the cheapest devices in HMD Global’s lineup to support Android One, which offers guaranteed updates for two years. It features a metal unibody design and is crafted out of a single piece of aluminum.
In terms of specifications, the Nokia 6.1 features a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 16:9 aspect ratio. Unlike most other smartphones launching in the past few months, the Nokia 6.1 does not adopt the taller aspect ratio of 18:9. Under the hood, it gets a Snapdragon 630 mobile platform, which is a huge improvement from the Snapdragon 430 SoC seen on last year’s model.
Nokia 6.1 comes with 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, a 16-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The smartphone supports WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS and 4G LTE. The smartphone features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and uses a USB Type-C port for charging. Nokia 6.1 is priced at $269 in the US and will go on sale from Sunday via Amazon and Best Buy.
Nokia 6 was launched in the US at a retail price of $229 but consumers could pick for as low as $180 via Amazon’s lock-screen ads program. With the new model, HMD Global seems to have increased the price marginally to reflect the updated specifications.
